The Elan Valley Trail

The spectacular Elan Trail runs from the town to the Elan Valley and around the four of the Elan valley reservoirs. It is safe and enjoyable trail for all visitors, for walkers, wheelchair users and babies in pushchairs as well as cyclists. It is a gentle path ideal for families and takes in the amazing scenery of the area. These impressive gates, made by Reece Ingram, mark the start of the Trail.
Take a look at our Wildlife page for more information on the various wildlife that inhabit Rhayader. Along the Trail there is also a series of specially made benches to take a rest and admire the scenery.

Fishing - The river Wye and reservoirs in the Elan Valley
Horse Riding - The vast open areas make good trekking country with little need to use the roads. Riding can be arranged from two businesses in town.
Cycling - The area is ideal for cycling, with routes for all to enjoy, from gentle rides down country lanes to strenuous trails over the mountains. Mountain navigation courses can be arranged in luxury Farmhouse accommodation like Dyffryn.

Organisers of Off-Road motorcycle events including Trials, Motocross, Hare 'n Hounds and Enduro's. Events held during most seasons of the year. The club also organise the biggest Mid-week Motocross Series in the UK during the summer months at their Cwmythig Hill circuit.
